The advances In photography have skyrocketed in the last few years. Many professional photographers have gone to digital but some of the old die hards think film is still the best probably because they are resisting change, but they feel it is the best medium for photographs. If you take a look at any special events digital cameras are pretty much the norm and the preference is digital photography probably do to it’s convenience and simplicity. if you want to save money printing your photos yourself then a good investment would be to purchase a camera printer. Typically you can save about 25% to 50% off when you compare to standard film development costs. But one of the key the reasons is the convenience of doing everything at home.
When people first started printing photos, there was no specific camera printer you could buy.
You could get the best printer you could find, but you often had to print out what you wanted on a large sheet and then cut them out. You could purchase a good printer but it’s main purpose was not printing photo’s and you would have do some special manipulation to print pictures and then you would have to cut them out from a large sheet.
Photo paper for printing came out rather quickly, but the sheets were still the size of your average printer paper. This paper was rather cumbersome and you still had to cut each picture from the sheets and it was easy to make a mistake and ruin the picture.
Then the camera printer came out and simplified the whole printing process, and most people who bought them fell in love. These new units are pretty much push a button and a photo is printed directly on paper the exact size you want it without cutting a thing.
Unfortunately you end up using a lot of ink but you still save money compared to standard film development, but the camera printer is still a very good investment.
If you factor in the cost of the ink, the cost of the paper, and your regular film development prices and printing, you will find it costs you less in the future to print this way. That’s not your only option though. You can use a public camera printer as well, and these are as low as twenty or less cents a print in some cases. There are other options too that will save you money like going to department store and using a public camera printer and pay as low as 15 cents a picture in some places.
The advantage here is you can pick and choose what prints you want from your media of choice. My wife and I just slip in our camera memory card and choose the pictures you want. But we also have used a CD you can insert into the same machine. This type of camera printer will then allow you to choose the photos you want, the sizes you want, and how many you would like to print. This type of camera printer is my favorite choice because my wife and I don’t print pictures that often, and it gives you the same option of choosing the size you want, and how many prints you would like. Some are instant, and the less expensive take longer. Either way though, these types of printers are here to stay.
