The location of Band Camp is at a rather isolated, rural setting.  Comfort is non-existent.  The cabins in which we stayed are old, dilapidated structures which house spider-ridden, musty-smelling cots.  They are arranged side-by-side and in bunks, accommodating as many campers as possible.  Talk about living in “close quarters”.  There is no other furniture in the cabin.  Not only did we have to adjust to sharing personal space with fellow band members and their annoying habits, we had to sleep on lumpy, musty mattresses.  Even though sleeping arrangements were uncomfortable, exhaustion from each day’s activity made these conditions a welcome respite.

Meals were shared in a cafeteria setting.  The food, although filling, consisted of high-calorie, bland-tasting fare.  Nothing was fresh; everything tasted like it came from a can…and it probably did.

The week I attended Band Camp, the weather was hot, humid, and uncomfortable.  Practices were brutal and the pressure of living in this kind of environment, as well as the mental and physical demands, made me miss home. 

One day, about mid-week, I was particularly frustrated.  The rigorous activity and the living conditions were getting to me.  I was hot and tired.  My muscles were sore and I was probably slightly dehydrated.  My allergies were making me even more uncomfortable, depriving me of much-needed sleep.  My muscles were sore and I was probably on the verge of dehydration.    During a short rest break, my fellow campers and I heard the roar of a UPS truck coming down the lane.  “Oh great”, I said.  “Probably some more of that fattening food being delivered”, added my friend.  Imagine my surprise (and delight) when the Band Director called out my name with his megaphone to inform me that it was I who had the delivery.

As I hurriedly tore the heavy box open, while fellow campers stood around and watched, I found a hand-written note from my sweet aunt, whose own daughter attended Band Camp a few years before.  “I know how you need to keep up your energy.  Enjoy!” 

Inside the box was a colorful basket FULL of fresh, juicy fruit.  There were red and yellow delicious apples, green Bartlett pears, red grapes, and bright oranges.  Juicy nectarines and peaches were also included.  Sealed packages of raisins, dried cherries, and banana chips were thrown in, as well.  It was a bushel-full, so there was enough fruit to share with everyone!  The colorful arrangement was so enticing, we began enjoying it immediately.  The basket of fresh fruit was the healthiest we had eaten all week.  We savored each nutritious mouthful.  It gave us the boost we needed to make it through the week…physically and mentally.

My aunt’s note said to share; so share, I did.  There was enough fruit for everyone to enjoy.  In fact, the colorful assortment was so tempting, we began enjoying it immediately…watermelon juice running down our chins…peach nectar making our fingers sticky.  This basket of fresh fruit was the healthiest we had eaten all week.  We savored each nutritious bite.  It gave us the energy we needed to make it through the week.  It refreshed us enough to calm our nerves.  It gave us the nutrition we were lacking so we could focus and concentrate on what we needed to learn.

Due to my aunt’s thoughtfulness, my band-mates and I can look back at our Band Camp experience with fondness.  It was one of the more memorable highlights of the week.  Sending me the Fruit Basket turned out to be the encouragement (and nourishment) I needed to see me through to the end.  It arrived at one of the more difficult times in my life and turned it into a positive experience.  It was such a great idea; I will never forget how much I appreciated it.  In fact, I plan to send a deliciously fresh Fruit Basket to other band campers in years to come.  I’m sure they will appreciate it as much as I did.

Ego and Pride: Men are complicated beings no doubt about that-pride and ego filled. Forget about direct communication and expression of any emotions or feelings. Men think that only sissy show their feelings especially for a female. It must originate from the age old believe that cowboy’s don’t cry in front of their horses. Don’t even try and hide: When it comes to the feeling called love, there are just some things you are unable to hide-not matter how hard you try. The trying part will make it even more obvious. If a guy likes you, believe me you will just know. The rate of liking is what you have to determine.

Action louder than words: We woman communicate with words and men with their bodies. Body language is a sure fire giveaway of his feelings. Look out for increased eye contact as well dilate pupils. Nervousness, blushing and movement imitation are also common signs that he is extremely attracted to you.

Friend and colleague giveaways: Open staring, pointing and discussions about you with friend or colleagues are sure tell tale signs that he likes you, maybe even more than just like. If he feels comfortable enough to talk about you to the people he shares his work and relaxation time with, you are in the love hot seat. Out of the full heart the mouth sings.

Rejection phobia: Men have a disabling fear for rejection. You can easily say the fear takes the form of a phobia. They will rather have the fear interfere with their daily life being miserable and lonely without you than to take a risk with the possible outcome being rejection. Sometimes the fear can lead to him avoiding you. Don’t immediately think he does not like you or even hate you. Chances are that he is just in defence mode. Pay attention to overall signs that he likes you.

Don’t force: Don’t use force to get the words love or in love out of a guy. The force can just have the opposite effect and send the guy packing or worse running. It has the possibility of making you look desperate or like a fool. Men don’t like to be rushed, when he is ready he will say the words you have been longing so long to hear. The longer it takes the more the chances are that its deep and honestly from the heart. Be cautious when a guys says “I love you” to quickly.

Not every relationship can last forever. For many, the actual end is just because two people have grown apart over the years. It happens, there is no shame other than the disappointment both suffer in realizing that the person they thought they were going to spend their life with is not really the one. Then there is the other type of ending. You find out your spouse is cheating on you and you have to know when to leave a cheating spouse.

It is often so difficult to separate yourself, even after some one cheats. You analyze and try to figure out what went wrong and still try to fix it. Sometimes it will work and sometimes it won’t. Even if you try, sometimes one person just doesn’t want to work it. They want to move on, but just don’t have the courage to do it.
